My favourite pieces of jewelry are my NAILS! I absolutely love nail polish because it's showy, it's long-lasting, there are so many shades to choose from, and it's also the reason I stopped biting my nails! Now I keep them short for practicality, but I take care of them everyday (oil + moisturizer) and paint them every week. Like with makeup, I love being tacky and experimenting with colors, and I made this page to write down which manicures I give myself each week, what inspired them, and how they made me feel.

My favourite nail polish community is r/wegotpolishathome, where you can find fun little bingos and challenges to use the polishes you already have at home in new ways <3

p.s.: my cuticles are loved & wanted and I leave them THE FUCK ALONE.

this week's nails: lilac on the thumb and index finger; white on the middle and pinky finger; gold on the ring finger

inspired by: pajama day in my school's fashion week, learning to play Perfect by Ed Sheeran on the steel drum, being tired and missing the days when Ikea employees would let me climb on top of the bunk bed in one of the exposition bedrooms

notes: blessed combo... lavender milk and honey.... I miss guilt-free long sleep....

28/01/26

this week's nails: orange on the thumb, middle and pinky finger; pink on the index and ring finger

inspired by: a post on r/wegotpolishathome

notes: SO HAPPY ABOUT THIS COLOR COMBO AND SO PROUD THAT I TRIED IT OUT OMG...

20/01/26

this week's nails: terracotta brown on all fingers

inspired by: my lack of creativity

notes: a huge change of pace from my usual colorful polishes, but I actually quite like it

11/01/26

this week's nails: dark red on the thumb, ring and pinky finger; black on the index and middle finger; all with a matte top coat

inspired by: color look pretty together ooga booga

notes: too emo?.... nah. I got this dark red polish as a Christmas gift and I was really excited to try it out!

30/12/25

this week's nails: silver on the thumb, middle and pinky finger; gold on the index and ring finger

inspired by: NEW YEAR'S EVE!!!

notes: I think I should've made GOLD the star of the show, not silver.... but whatever. I've been planning this combo for New Year's Eve since like, november

18/12/25

this week's nails: right hand: all fingernails green except red on ring finger; left hand: all fingernails red except green on ring finger

inspired by: CHRISTMAS!!!

notes: This polish was for Christmas, and I wanted it to last until Santo Stefano (the 26th of december). It did not want to last. It chipped, it tried to escape, it begged for the sweet release of death, it begged me to let it go. I usually don't insist, when my manicures are done with me I'm done with them too. Oh but I was not done with this one yet. I had it on life support for more than a week. I've never been more stubborn, I WANTED this to last until Santo stefano. I had to repaint my nails a couple times, but we made it.

this week's nails: metallic peachy orange on all fingers

inspired by: an ASMR video I was watching where the woman had almost this exact same nail color

notes: I have another polish of this same line from Kiko, and... it was not good. I had to put on 5 coats of it in order to make it visible, and for some reason, once I had to remove it, it wouldn't fucking come off and I had to PEEL IT OFF. Horrifying. I decided to try this other one anyways, and I hope I don't have to fucking peel it off again, I'll definitely update this entry once this week has passed. All I can say for now is: I only had to put 3 coats on this time, and it looks nice. So far so good.
Okay I removed this mani and it was perfectly normal and not a hassle thumbs up

this week's nails: metallic silver on the thumb, ring and pinky finger; matte green on the index and middle finger

inspired by: november: grey skies and fog in the mountain's woods...

notes:

•with these colors I accidentally matched the ugly, super comfy sweater I wear at home lol

•I love the combo of metallic polish + matte polish on different fingers.....

18/11/25

this week's nails: "gradient" nails, yellow on the bottom and coral on top

inspired by: color look pretty together ooga booga

notes: I'm still too afraid to try out the stamping kit I bought, so I tried doing gradient nails with the little sponge that came with it. The result is very nice, people have brought up my nails unprompted, but it isn't really a perfect gradient I'm not gonna lie. It looks more like... apple skin, which I actually like. Apple nails!! The downsides are that cleanup takes a lot of time, even though I used the vaseline hack, and I also used up a ton of polish.

10/11/25

this week's nails: just tiffany blue on all nails

inspired by: my lack of time and energy SORRYYYY I was in a hurry

notes:

•I needed maximum results with minimum effort so I did this simple one-color mani with one of my favourite polishes of all time. I forgot how happy this color makes me ❤️

•My cheap thrifted nail stamping kit has arrived... I didn't try it out on my nails, just on a piece of paper, and I can't get the fucking stamped designs to NOT LOOK SMUDGED 😭 maybe I use too much polish on the stamping plate? I'm gonna try again when I have more time.

4/11/25

this week's nails: metallic blue-green (Rimmel's beautiful "Siren" shade) on the thumb, middle finger, and pinky finger; metallic purple on the index and ring finger. On the other hand, same colors but swapped

inspired by: winter introspection

notes:

•I'd wanted to try this combo for a while, and... let me be honest, my expectations were better. I thought I would enjoy it more... It's giving Winx Club a little too much. Or H2O, that one show about mermaids.

•The Siren shade is STUNNING, HOLY SHIT.

•I remembered the purple nail polish as probably my favourite polish, but I hadn't worn it since summer. I must've been an even shittier sloppier painter back then because holy shit is it hard to apply with this dumbass Kiko's shorty minuscule brush. It looks beautiful, but it's a pain in the ass to actually use.

28/10/25

this week's nails: dark reddish brown on the thumb; orange on the index finger; yellow on the middle finger; terracotta brown on the ring finger; black on the pinky finger; all with a matte top coat

inspired by: halloween!!

notes:

•Yeah so. Like I said in my journal I wanted to give myself a mani inspired by the song Turn The Bells by White Lies, specifically these lyrics, which have always screamed HALLOWEEN to me:

"A group of sandalwood trees
With clotted blood-coloured bark
Candle-lit teeth
Half-moon smiles in the dark"

And the colors I chose were red, black, yellow, white, and dark reddish brown. I was so hyped, I thought it was a genius idea, and I was even going to try a matte top coat for the first time. Then I put them on and... it was the goddamn flag of Germany. I looked like I was gonna start selling bratwurst on the side of the road. I hated it, and I was wondering if I should take it off, then I accidentally smudged the polish on my pinky finger and I went, you know what? Fuck you. I took it all off and the day after I did this. I'm not 100% happy with it cause it looks too much like last week's mani (a skittle with fall colors), but it still looks nice and it's intriguing to have a matte top coat on, I wonder how long it'll last.

•Matte black looks ABSOLUTELY STUNNING. I wouldn't normally do black on its own, I'd find it too boring, but I'm considering painting every nail in matte black soon.

20/10/25

this week's nails: dark reddish brown on the thumb; terracotta brown on the index finger; gold on the middle finger; olive green on the ring finger; taupe-brown on the pinky finger

inspired by: fall, and also most of these polishes are new and I wanted to try them all at once lol

notes: heeheh. HeheeheEEHEHEHHEHEHEHEH this is my first skittle (5 different colors on each fingernail) and I LOVE IT SO GODDAMN MUCH I think all the colors go incredibly well together, and I also think I did a good job at painting them on (usually I'm not the most precise painter but this time I used the vaseline hack where you spread vaseline around the cuticles, and I think the outcome was much better than usual???)

13/10/25

this week's nails: black on the pinky and thumb; red-purple on the ring and index finger; pink on the middle finger

inspired by: my period + spooky season

notes: this is my first three-color mani ever and I love it, I can't stop staring at my nails!!

6/10/25

this week's nails: metallic silver on the thumb, ring and pinky finger; lilac on the index and middle finger

inspired by: I couldn't make up my mind regarding which colors I wanted to wear so I searched up "nail polish combinations" and was really intrigued by this one

notes: I hadn't even thought of this combination but it looks so pretty and unique (I swear the little colors down here don't do it justice), definitely writing this one down
